Looking back at the mentorship event

From April 29 to May 1, 2022, the Driving the Human mentorship event in Munich brought together project authors, artists, scientists, and various experts for three days of exchange and a public discussion.

During three days at the Amerikahaus in Munich, Driving the Human’s seven selected projects developed and honed ideas, connecting with experts from a variety of disciplines. This closed mentorship event was hosted by Driving the Human co-initiator Acatech. Alongside these stimulating exchanges, the program included an evening open to the general public. With the title Blueprints for Collaboration Between Science and the Arts, the event comprised a moderated conversation between Vera Meyer, Professor of Applied and Molecular Microbiology at TU Berlin and artist, Stefan Böschen, Chair of Technology and Society at RWTH Aachen University’s Human Technology Center and Director of the Käte Hamburger Kolleg: Cultures of Research, and the authors of the Driving the Human projects.

The public event discussed possibilities and methods for collaboration between artists and scientists, focusing on the impact of transdisciplinary collaborations when addressing complex contemporary issues. Ultimately, the conversation appealed to more openness between science in the arts, in order to create and push for new ideas. You can read an in-depth recap of the discussion here.

The mentoring event fostered the further development of the seven prototypes for eco-social renewal that will be once more presented to the public at the end of 2022. From November 25–27, 2022, we are looking forward to seeing you at Silent Green in Berlin for the upcoming Driving the Human Festival!
